Tony Iommi has reflected on the time which saw Black Sabbath replace their singer Ozzy Osbourne with rock legend Ronnie James Dio in 1979. In a new interview with Kerrang!, the Sabbath guitarist opens up on the differences between the two singers, as well as how the band ended up choosing Dio as a replacement. The journey of Black Sabbath began with the original lineup consisting of guitarist Tony Iommi, drummer Bill Ward, bassist Geezer Butler, and vocalist Ozzy Osbourne. Formed in 1969, the band quickly gained popularity with their heavy blues-influenced sound and dark lyrics.
