Ozzy Osbourne’s fourth studio album, The Ultimate Sin, released on February 22, 1986, captures a glam-influenced, radio-polished version of the Prince of Darkness. Featuring Jake E. Lee on guitar once again, the album sees Ozzy leaning further into the melodic hard rock and heavy metal aesthetic of the mid-‘80s. Those old Ozzy's are really damn cool, and "The Ultimate Sin" is no exception. It tends to get left behind when discussing Ozzy's best solo works, but this is a damn good record all the same. Lee (formerly of The Ultimate Sin is actually a pretty good, albeit poorly produced and at times rushed, album, and in my opinion Jake E. Lee's best, and ironically final, performance on an Ozzy Osbourne record. The ostensible reason is that Osbourne always hated The Ultimate Sin. But rumours persist that complications as to who actually wrote the song might be the real story behind the omission. But all in all, this is a underrated album, while not the best though. I reccomend that any fan of Bark At The Moon with tolerance for 80s hair metal pick this album up.
